The first game is being co-designed with girls in India to provide an entertaining and safe space where they may explore, discover, and learn through interactive role-play in a virtual world. Within the game, girls can experience the power of their decisions, get connected to vital information and real-world resources, and become better equipped to shape their futures with confidence. Game of Choice, Not Chance is a response to USAID’s interest in Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) Approaches to Fertility Awareness and Adolescent Reproductive Health. Howard Delafield International is implementing the youth-centered initiative implemented through a consortium that includes India-based partners, Indusgeeks, Vihara Innovation Network, and Girl Effect, and U.S-based Cycle Technologies, and NAM ER Technology.

ideas42

ideas42 is a leading non-profit behavioral design lab that leverages rigorous research from the fields of behavioral economics, cognitive science, and psychology to address a range of social problems and improve millions of lives. We use the behavioral sciences to help us understand the nuances of human behavior and why people make the decisions they do. Our deep expertise across a range of domains has showed us that context matters, that asking the right questions is critical, and that simple solutions are often available, but frequently overlooked or dismissed. We work to identify the subtle but important contextual details that can have a disproportionate impact on outcomes. ideas42 has developed a rigorous methodology to identify behavioral barriers that inhibit people from acting in accordance with their own broader preferences, and to design tailored solutions to overcome those barriers. We also educate thought leaders, policy-makers and practitioners about behavioral science, and how it can help to solve social problems. We run bespoke education programs to provide an introduction to the design of behaviorally informed policies, programs and products, and work extensively with partners to develop in-house behavioral capacity through our Behavioral Design Teams. Our work spans more than 45 countries and encompasses global and domestic health, economic mobility, international development, education, consumer finance, criminal justice, and energy efficiency, which enables us to draw insights from a wide range of sectors. Within our global health portfolio, we have partnered with a wide range of governments, foundations, and non-profit organizations in the areas of family planning, and maternal and child health, nutrition, HIV, and malaria. We bring expertise in applied behavioral science, innovative approaches to co-design and capacity building, and a management approach to support diffusion of innovation at scale.
