Dear IBP Community,

Apologies for any cross-posting, but I wanted to share details of a webinar happening tomorrow, Thursday 16th July (10am EST / 3pm BST) - A Gendered Crisis: Ensuring SRHR for women facing violence under COVID-19.

The webinar will include presentations from:

  • Claudia Garcia-Moreno, who directs work on gender-based violence at the World Health Organisation, sharing the WHO’s guidance on supporting survivors of SGBV
  • Amy Bucknall, Safeguarding Lead at Marie Stopes UK, on the rising rates of domestic violence and safeguarding referrals seen in the UK under lockdown and their safeguarding pathways for clients facing violence
  • Rumbidzai Matewe, Programmes Director at Population Services Zimbabwe, presenting with Katswe Sistahood, a youth movement supporting survivors of gender-based violence in Zimbabwe, on how partnership between GBV and SRHR specialists can ensure high quality care for survivors.

The webinar will include practical strategies for how we can collaborate and innovate to ensure survivors of SGBV can access SRHR, during the pandemic. Presentations will be followed by a live Q&A.

We would like to invite you to the next webinar in the Spotlight webinar series, on Thursday 16th July from 10:00 - 11:00am EST / 15:00 - 16:00pm BST

A Gendered Crisis: Ensuring SRHR for women facing violence under COVID-19

As COVID-19 impacts access to reproductive healthcare globally and with rising rates of gender-based violence being reported, it is essential we preserve access to comprehensive sexual and reproductive healthcare for survivors. This webinar will explore practical strategies for how we can collaborate and innovate to do so.

Join Marie Stopes International alongside speakers from the World Health Organisation and Katswe Sistahood (a movement of young people fighting for SRHR in Zimbabwe) to discuss the unique risks facing women under lockdown, the role that healthcare providers can play in supporting survivors, and the importance of partnership during the pandemic and beyond.

The webinar will feature short presentations from each speaker, followed by a live audience Q&A where interventions and questions from participants will be welcome.
