Last week the RCOG published two new Best Practice Papers on post-abortion contraception and telemedicine abortion.

These documents synthesise evidence based guidance from the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health, the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence and the World Health Organisation.

• The post-abortion contraception paper provides an overview of contraceptive options and considerations for different methods of abortion and sets out how health workers can facilitate non-stigmatising conversations to provide post-abortion contraception counselling.

• The telemedicine abortion paper outlines the evidence of the safety and efficacy of it and how to run a quality telemedicine abortion service.

We would also like to flag that the Making Abortion Safe online learning resources, in abortion advocacy and abortion care, have been moved to a new site. Please feel free to share these resources widely within your network.  The abortion care resources comprise of seven abortion care tutorials that take healthcare professionals through the essential knowledge for providing quality abortion services. The advocacy resources are comprised of seven tutorials to support healthcare professionals and other allies to develop or hone their advocacy knowledge and skills to improve access to quality abortion care.
